Restorative Dentistry

Restorative Dentistry - White Pine Family Dentistry Hamilton Ontario

Restorative dentistry is used to replace or repair missing or damaged teeth. Fillings, crowns (“caps”), bridges and implants are common restorative options. These preventative and cosmetic procedures bring back your natural smile and prevent future oral health issues.

Having missing or damaged teeth can lead to health and confidence issues. The following are included in the many benefits of undergoing restorative dental procedures:

  • Filling empty spaces in the mouth helps keep teeth properly aligned
  • Replacing teeth makes it easier to maintain good oral care habits to help prevent plaque build-up and the problems plaque can lead to
  • Missing teeth can affect your health, appearance and self-esteem

Restorative Dentistry Treatment Options

Dental Fillings

The most common way to treat a cavity is to remove the decay and fill the tooth. We use white resin exclusively for our fillings and do not use the old metal amalgam materials. Your result will be both beautiful and clinically sound.

Dental Crowns

It’s easier than you think to turn broken, cracked, or decaying teeth into healthy, beautiful teeth. Dental crowns, also known as caps, correct your teeth and strengthen them by fitting tightly over your existing teeth. Dental crowns mask the appearance of broken or decaying teeth and protect them from becoming more damaged.

All it takes is a few quick appointments at White Pine Family Dentistry to design, fit and place your new crown. Once your crown is set, it’s just like having a natural tooth.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge “bridges” the gap where there are missing teeth. A bridge has a crown on each end with an artificial tooth or teeth between them. The end crowns are used to anchor the bridge in place either on dental implants or other natural teeth. A bridge can keep your other teeth from moving out of place, and once placed, it works just like your natural teeth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth. An implant has 2 parts: a metal anchor that replaces the root of the missing tooth and a crown that replaces the top of the missing tooth. A dental implant looks and feels like a natural tooth.
